Water absorbency or absorption of paper refers to the measurement of the amount of water the wet surface of a paper or paperboard can absorb. Cobb Sizing Test & Tester

As already read above, the cobb sizing test measures the water absorption strength and sizing adequacy of the paper and other similar materials. In this test, the cobb value of the paper is determined in a given time. One side of a particular area of the paper is placed horizontally beneath the head of 1 cm of water. The automatic sample clamps hold the sample in an accurate position so that the test can be effectively performed. The excess water gets removed through the couch roller.  

Water Absorption Test & Tester

Another test that determines the capillary rise or the water absorption in an unsized blotting paper is the one done using the water absorption tester. This tester makes use of the Klemm Method to derive accurate results. In this test, the lower end of the specimen strip is immersed in the water-filled vessel. The scale measures the amount absorbed and risen in the sample, as well as notes the time taken by the sample. This test can also be performed with other liquids such as oils, ink, etc.
